Since we started the Annual Influenza Vaccination Drive for the elderly at Kreta Ayer in 2009, 2023 was the 13th year which we, as doctors and employees of the IDS Group, happily do community service together.

Dr Wong, Dr Lam and our guest infectious disease specialist, Dr David Allen, together with our clinic nurses, administered a total of 210 free vaccinations to the elderly from Kreta Ayer at the event which was held at Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (BTRTS). They were also assisted by Metta’s Home Vaccination Team who went to the homes of the elderly who were less mobile and provided the vaccination to them.

Guest of Honour, Mr. Danny Chong, Patron of Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng CCC, graced the event with his presence and joined the elderly in getting their flu vaccination done.

We were happy that many elderly have returned to be vaccinated by us. It was truly heartwarming to hear them expressing their gratitude to us for providing the free vaccination annually.

We would like to thank BTRTS and Metta for providing the logistical support and the assistance from their staff and volunteers who ensured that the event was a success.

Also, in addition to providing the vaccines to these elderly, Dr Wong and Dr Lam also continued in 2023 to donate doses of the Northern Hemisphere quadrivalent influenza vaccines to the residents at the Metta Home in Woodlands.

All in all, it was certainly a rewarding and enjoyable experience for us; coming together as a team to give back to the community. We hope to do this again in the many years to come.
