On 30 November 2024, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (BTRTS) played host to our Annual Influenza Vaccination Drive, an initiative aimed at safeguarding the health of the elderly in our community. This year’s event saw a commendable turnout, with 220 elderly and 11 monks vaccinated on-site, while the Home Vaccination Team from Metta Welfare Association administered flu vaccinations to an additional 22 elderly. In total, 253 individuals were vaccinated during this event.
The event officially commenced at 2 PM, with a steady stream of elderly participants arriving for their vaccinations. Minister Josephine Teo’s, Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Kreta Ayer–Kim Seng division of Jalan Besar GRC, presence added a touch of warmth and encouragement, as she engaged with the elderly and expressed her appreciation for the healthcare teams involved.
The event was not only about vaccinations but also about fostering a sense of connection and community. Many of the elderly recognised and remembered the doctors and our team from past drives, a testament to the longstanding relationships built through this initiative. Their gratitude was evident, with heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to receive their vaccinations conveniently and safely.
The success of this event can be attributed to the dedication and enthusiasm of our doctors, staff as well as the volunteers. The team found satisfaction in contributing to the community, no matter how small the gesture might seem. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event, leaving both participants and organisers with a sense of fulfilment.
As the day drew to a close, it was clear that the Annual Vaccination Drive had achieved its goal—not just in terms of numbers but in its broader impact on community health and well-being. We look forward to continuing this meaningful initiative and extending our care to even more members of the community in the years to come.
